Kindergarten Transition

Starting primary school is a big step for children and families. Our school runs orientation and transition activities to help your child feel ready for Kindergarten and to support you as parents and carers.

We are pleased to announce the dates for our upcoming Kindergarten Orientation sessions. Please mark these important dates in your calendar, as these sessions offer a valuable chance for your child to explore the school environment and begin their smooth transition into Kindergarten.

Detailed information about session times, booking procedures, and what to expect during the orientation will be shared with families of children enrolled for Kindergarten in 2027.

Kindergarten play sessions

Following our orientation sessions, we encourage our enrolled Kindergarten 2027 children and their families to continue spending time at school by attending our play sessions in the main playground on Thursday mornings.

These sessions are a wonderful way for children to become familiar with the school environment, get to know their future Kindergarten peers, and for parents and carers to connect with our school community.

What to expect in Kindergarten

What to pack for a school day

Students have three eating breaks throughout the day: Crunch and Sip, Morning Tea, and Lunch. Please make sure to label all containers—both lids and bases—with your child’s name and class. While containers can sometimes go missing, clearly labelled items are more likely to be returned. We encourage you to teach your child to open and close their lunch box and containers independently. Although teachers are always available to help, developing self-help skills is an important focus for us.

Crunch and Sip is a short fruit or vegetable snack break at 10:00am, eaten in the classroom. This break lasts for about 10 minutes. Please cut fruit such as apples, oranges, or any large pieces into small portions so it can be eaten quickly. Using reusable containers is a great way to store any uneaten pieces that can be enjoyed later.

Morning Tea (recess) lasts for 25 minutes. Students eat outside while sitting with their food. Once finished eating, they have time to play with friends.

Lunch is eaten outside or in various locations. Students are asked to remain seated for at least 10 minutes and may stay longer if they need time to finish their meal. Lunch breaks last for 40 minutes, allowing ample time to eat and play.

Water Bottles should be brought to school filled with water every day. Our school has bubblers available if students forget their bottles.

Hats are compulsory for all students and must be worn outside every day to ensure sun safety.

Canteen operates Monday to Friday. Orders can be placed online through the Spriggy app. Please note that Kindergarten students are encouraged to begin ordering from Week 5 of Term 1.

Rain Preparation: If rain is expected, please pack a raincoat for your child. Children may need to cross outdoor areas to access bathrooms or other classrooms and require protection from the weather. For safety reasons, we prefer the students to use raincoats instead of umbrellas at school.

Getting ready at home

You can help your child get ready by encouraging independence and routines. Try:

• packing and unpacking their school bag
• dressing themselves and practising hygiene
• following simple routines at home.
