Interschools Snowsports Championships 2021

Dear Parents,

Well here we go again for another awesome year for the NNPS Snowsports Team! After a forgettable 2020 season with east coast lows doing their best to turn the snow to porridge and COVID cancelling the race season,  the NNPS Snowsports Team and Interschool Championships are back for 2021!  If you missed the Aussie 2020 season or the northern winter of 20/21, now’s your chance to join the NNPS Snowsports Team for 2021 and have that perfect holiday in this great country’s winter playground.

You are receiving this email because you showed an interest in the NNPS Snowsports team by either:

1. Providing your details at the Kindy Morning Tea on Monday;
2. Have previously shown an interest in the joining in the NNPS Snowsports Team or;
3. Raced with the team in 2019, enjoying it’s most successful race season to date!

If you’re a number 3 welcome back, I hope you join us to go around again. If you’re a 1 or 2 now is your chance to join the schools’ most successful and exciting sports team! 2019 was the best year to date for the NNPS Snowsports with 2^nd place overall in the Regionals, 5^th in the State Champ and 3 students represented NNPS at Mt.Buller in the Australian Championships achieving top 20 finishes. Not bad for a school on the beaches!

To give you a very brief rundown the Interschool’s Snowsports Championships are a series of snowsport competitions where students compete for their school as part of a TEAM and an INDIVIDUAL in

• Alpine;
• Moguls;
• Skiercross;
• Snowboard Slalom;
• Boardercross;
• Cross Country Events

The Championships include Regional, State and National title events.   The Regional event is held in the first week of school holidays 28 June to 04 July (save the dates) and this year its back at Perisher.  For more detailed information on the Interschools Snowsports Championships check out https://www.nswinterschools.com.au/.  I have attached the 2021 flyer as well.

Due kids moving up grades, the team really needs students of K-2 and Snowboarders of all ages. But of course we welcome all students of any age. 2019 we had 21 students, it would be great to improve on those numbers.

You may have loads of questions so we will be holding a Snowsports team info night in the Library in early March (dates TBC), including an Aussie winter sports athlete guest speaker.  We also have a fb page “NNPS Snowsports” where further team info can be found.

It would be great to get an idea of potential team numbers so feel free to shoot me an email.
