28 Jul 2021
Dear School Leaders and Communities,
I write to let you know that today (Wednesday, 28 July, 2021) is OOSH Educators Day. This is an important time to recognise the Out of School Hours Care Educators that work in your school community. Educators, essential workers, that work with children Before/After school and during Vacation Care.
About Network
Network of Community Activities is the PEAK body for Out of School Hour Services across NSW. We are delighted to support OOSH Educators Day, which is now a national event to celebrate the work of Educators across Australia. OOSH Educators work tirelessly to support children in their time out of school.
The Real Value of Feeling Valued
This year we’ve seen, perhaps more clearly than ever, the true capacity and dedication of OOSH Educators throughout COVID 19. We have realised their true strengths are being professional, resilient, caring and supportive of children and families.
Throughout COVID 19 services have remained open to support working families and this has not been easy with often-unpredictable numbers. It has however, given us all a better understanding of the important role they play within school communities.
Please give a "shout out" to the OOSH Educators who support your school community.
We want to encourage you to take this opportunity to say thank you to Educators with perhaps a personal note of thanks, or visiting the service to say “Thank you” or a note of acknowledgment in your school newsletter. There are many different ways to show your appreciation.
We know that recognition from the school Principal and other school leaders would have a significant positive impact on Educators.
Support for Schools
If you ever need support, information or assistance with your OOSH service or are interested in establishing a service within your school community please remember to call Network.
We have over 46 years of experience in the Out of School Hours sector and come with the specialised knowledge and expertise.
Thank you for your support with this matter.
